Your tutor will ensure they share with your child the core essential knowledge from chemistry that they need to know in order to pass exams. This could include aspects like definitions, essential terminology and equations.

The tutor will help your child develop a deeper understanding of the essential factual content of the subject, building upon the fundamental concepts (see below for key topics).

The tutor will have the experience to ensure that content is covered carefully in a logical sequence building upon prior knowledge to help build confidence.

 Your child's tutor will model different approaches to solving different types of questions, including those tricky titration and theoretical yield calculations.  The tutor will then allow your child to hone these skills by getting them to apply theoretical knowledge to these questions and feedback where necessary.

The tutor will be able to review common required practicals that may or may not have been carried out by your child in school, reviewing the essential knowledge including apparatus set up, methods and essential questions that students should be able to answer. This will help ensure students able to tackle any practical related questions with improved confidence.

 There are several topics that are interrelated within chemistry and also with the other sciences; biology and physics. These connections help provide a more holistic understanding of chemistry, enabling them to develop a more integrated understanding of the scientific principles in particular topics.

The tutor can help your child understand how to navigate the exam format, manage time effectively, and present answers clearly and concisely using essential and relevant terminology. They will also help students how best to tackle the 6-mark level response questions. The tutor will have access to a vast amount of past papers that they can share with your child to help them practise and develop their exam technique.
